Modern Marvels TV Show

Greetings All!

We wanted to let you know that coming up this weekend is the Modern Marvels episode that will showcase some of our dogs! The Modern Marvels crew was here at Husky Homestead this summer shooting footage of our dogs swimming for a portion of this episode. We were very excited to have them here and we are anxious to see the episode in it’s entirety. It should be an interesting one, so check it out!!

  1. Watching. I can’t believe your training!! I don’t have Husky’s, just love dogs.

  2. Please repost if the show will be on again. I’d like my husband to see it.

  3. I thought the show was very interesting especially since I have tried to learn all that I can about the wolf. It is hard for me to believe that my schnauzer has blood lines to this creature! I have had the opportunity to hear Molly’s pack howl in Yellowstone. My question…do you believe that the team work of your dogs is a reflection of the genes of the wolves who obviouly work as a pack??? Or, is it really your skill and experience in training the dogs to to all get along!!!
(Although, I do know that you can not have an aggressive dog as part of the team.) Or perhaps a combination of each? I have experienced being in a dog yard at night to be awakened by the howls of the dogs which brings me to believe that some “howl” the domesticated dog is still connected to the “wild”! Even my schnauzer will “howl” during the night!!!!

Anyway, I enjoyed your segment on the program. By the way, I really enjoyed visitng Huskey Homestead in August. It was my second visit. I thought your daughters and wife did a fantastic job of explaining what you do as a living!!

Finally, I will miss following you in the 2011 Iditarod. You have been the most innovative and personal contributer to the success of the last great race.

Wishing you and your family and staff holiday greetings!

  5. We’re watching the show now, and are puzzled by the doghouses mounted on the training “carousel”. Can anyone clue me in?

"I came up with my family for a 14 day Alaskan adventure and this excursion was by far my favorite! Holding the puppies and being nuzzled by the older dogs was truly magical. I hope I will be able to come back again soon. Had such a great time. Thanks so much." - E. Schilling – Wisconsin
