2012 Iditarod – Unalakleet

Hello Race Fans!

Wow.  Lot’s happening in the race yesterday!  We know that most of you are intently staring at your computer screens hoping for some updated information.  First – Jeff and the team are fine.  Jeff is in Unalakleet getting some rest, and the dogs will be making their way from Unalakleet to Anchorage today, and we will have someone there waiting to pick them up and bring them back home so they can get comfy in there own houses.  We would like to thank all of you for your well wishes, support, and concern!  We are feeling the love!  It’s great to see all of the support for Jeff and the team.

As you may expect, you can’t really plan for something like this – and who would want to?!? Jeff’s next stop (after some well-deserved rest!) will be Nome, where he will spend a couple of days and watch the top teams cross under the burled arch.

Speaking of the rest of the teams…  we were very disappointed to hear of Jake Berkowitz’s withdrawal from the race due to a cut on his hand.  His team had been looking great (many siblings to ours in that team!) and was posting some very nice run times.  We wish Jake a speedy recovery and send our best wishes out to him and the entire crew at Apex Kennels.

Dallas Seavey has sure been running strong, and Aliy Zirkle is still in the mix, leaving Koyuk just 20 minutes behind Dallas early this morning. Lots of stuff happening out there on the trail!  Joe Runyan’s latest blog offers some insight into what is going on at the front of the pack – click here for a direct link.

Alright, back to work for us!  The sun is shining here in Denali, and temperatures this morning were at -20°.  Perhaps we will get a warm up this afternoon, but in the mean time we’ve still got our regular chores to attend to!

Again, thanks for all of your kind words and your support!
